Iranian Alliances Across Borders (IAAB) is a volunteer organization with a young dedicated staff spread across the United States, Europe and Iran.


Established in 2003 by students at Wellesley College and Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, Iranian Alliances Across Borders is a 501c3 non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization that addresses issues of the Iranian diaspora by facilitating community building, developing ways to better understand what it means to be part of a diaspora community, and helping members of the Iranian diaspora community enhance connections with their new communities as well as maintain connections with their root community.

CNN reporter David Ariosto spent three days observing the camp's structure, activities and general atmosphere. He filmed the action, interviewed campers and counselors, and watched as campers discussed what it meant to be part of the Iranian-American diaspora community.

The 2008 Essay Contest aimed to encourage writers and readers alike to think about issues that are important to hyphenated Iranians as individuals, as members of the diaspora community and as members of the global community at large.
