B l taa'rof

B|taa’rof is a magazine and website about the collective experience of Iranians across generational and geographic borders. It is the virtual museum of Iranians living outside of Iran; the voice of the Iranian community in North America; and one of IAAB’s newest programs.

The magazine will feature three sections: Oral History, Visual Arts, and Nonfiction Writing. Each section offers a creative bridge across years of undocumented memories and experiences, and the promise of shared understanding and acknowledgment to come.

The Oral History section will include short story adaptations in English of interviews with ordinary Iranians over 40 years of age around the experience of the everyday.

The Nonfiction section will feature prose from a variety of genres by and about the Iranian diaspora.

The Visual Arts section will feature the work of emerging artists breaking ground where the written word falls short.

The magazine will be accompanied by a website that houses a virtual museum of the contemporary Iranian experience.

The B|taa’rof website and first issue will appear in the Fall of 2012.
