IAAB's 5th Int'l Conference on the Iranian Diaspora to Take Place in Los Angeles
The project that started it all is back! IAAB is a pleased to announce the 5th International Conference on the Iranian Diaspora to take place in at UCLA, October 13-14, 2012.
The International Conference was IAAB's first program in 2004 and has been instrumental in the creation of a critical engagement with issues facing the Iranian diaspora among academics, NGO leaders, artists, students, activists, and many others. To date, IAAB's International Conferences have impacted thousands of members of the Iranian diaspora and have engaged over 100 academics and scholars of diaspora studies.
Building on the success of IAAB's conferences in Wellesley College and Tufts University (2004); University of Maryland, College Park (2005); New York University (2007); and UC Berkeley (2009), IAAB's2012 Conference will take place at UCLA in the fall.
Since IAAB's first conference, there have been tremendous changes in the Iranian diaspora and this year's conference will focus on these changes, as well as the current make-up of the Iranian diaspora, and importantly, how to build solidarity with other minority and diaspora communities in the United States and worldwide.
IAAB is currently accepting abstracts through its Call for Presentations, due April 2, 2012. We seek original research that sheds light on the Iranian diaspora, local communities, media practices, demographic studies, and much more. For a full list of potential topics, please take a look at the Call for Presentations.
