Camp Javan

Welcome to IAAB’s Camp Javan!
IAAB is excited to present Camp Javan, a leadership camp for rising sixth through eighth graders. Inspired by the acclaim over Camp Ayandeh, Camp Javan is tailored to the unique challenges and potentials of the middle school years.
Camp Javan has the dual mission of empowering campers with: a deeper understanding of culture and identity as youth within the Iranian diaspora, and the confidence and skills to be leaders within their communities. Camp Javan accomplishes this mission through community building activities; cultural, historical and artistic workshops; and critical discussions, helping campers respond to issues they see affecting middle school students within the Iranian American community. In collaboration with peers and older mentors, Javan participants also acquire tools to navigate the academic, extracurricular, and social aspects of middle school, and prepare for the transition to high school and beyond.
Campers leave with a stronger sense of self and responsibility for others, lifelong friendships, and the necessary skills to lead both within and outside of the Iranian diaspora community. As a non-political and non-religious camp, Camp Ayandeh Javan is open to all races and all creeds. The Iranian diaspora community is diverse and vibrant, a characteristic that Camp Javan represents, embraces, and celebrates.
Camp Javan 2012 will take place at Palisades Charter High School, Los Angeles, CA, from July 16th - July 20th, 2012. Please click here for camper applications.
