Applications for counselor positions will be accepted on a rolling basis. Please make sure to apply early.  

IAAB seeks a diverse group of motivated and enthusiastic high school and university students to serve as counselors and mentors at Camp Javan.  Counselors will be required to participate in a training period from July 14th-15th.

If this is your first time applying to be a counselor for one of IAAB’s programs, please complete the New Counselor Application form. If you have been a counselor or camper at Camp Ayandeh in the past, please complete the Returning Counselor Application form. Once you submit your application, a notification email will be sent outlining the next steps.

Counselor Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be currently enrolled or recently graduated from high school, undergraduate, or graduate studies
• Demonstrate maturity, as well as interest and experience in leadership development
• Possess qualities that will lead them to be good role models for others
• Demonstrate interest in working with children and youth

IAAB is strongly committed to building a diverse team that represents a range of opinions, experiences and perspectives. As such, individuals of all backgrounds, gender, race, culture, sexuality, and class are encouraged to apply. Counselors from outside the Los Angeles area will be expected to secure their own housing for the duration of Camp Javan.

Counselors for Camp Javan will be selected on a competitive basis. As such, submitting an application does not guarantee participation, and we strongly advise you to respond thoughtfully and thoroughly to all areas of the application.

Applicants who are selected to serve as counselors must confirm within one week of notification of acceptance into Camp Javan. Upon receiving a verbal or written commitment from selected participants, IAAB will send additional information and materials with the specific details of Camp Javan. As a part of the application process, some finalists in the program may be contacted to schedule a phone inter­view with the camp planning committee.
