Student Summit
IAAB's Student Summit is an annual leadership summit for Iranian American university student leaders. Summit participants strengthen their leadership skills through workshops and discussions led by industry experts and professionals from various fields. The Student Summit also creates an inclusive network through which student leaders build a deeper sense of community and understanding of leadership as practice.
Through the Summit, participants become a part of a national alliance of national Iranian student organizations. Throughout the year, members continue to foster relationships, develop forms of collaboration as student leaders, and organize joint local, regional, and national programs.
Workshops and panels consist of, but are not limited to, leadership development, effective communication skills, coalition building, exploration of identities, and community organizing.
Student Summit has been held at Wellesley College, George Washington University, and the University of California Center (Washington, DC).
Speakers consist of top professionals in their fields, which include IAAB staff, in order to create a professional and open environment. Past speakers have included Niaz Kasravi (NAACP); Laura Pena (National Hispanic Outreach Director for the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign); Thenjiwe McHarris (Amnesty International); Banafsheh Akhlaghi (Pars Equality Center); Mahdis Keshavarz (Make Agency); Sousan Abadian (MIT); among others.
As a non-political and non-religious conference, the Student Summit is open to all races and all creeds.
